Turns out it has a very rich history, as it was a major inland port supported by ocean tides. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jmcw.blog\/swissblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/05\/20130528-220316.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jmcw.blog\/swissblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/05\/20130528-220316.jpg\" alt=\"20130528-220316.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe churches here tend to have modern stained glass, as they have been destroyed so many times. Nantes was a stronghold of the Nazi occupation.  This is the inside of St Nicolas. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jmcw.blog\/swissblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/05\/20130528-220536.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jmcw.blog\/swissblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/05\/20130528-220536.jpg\" alt=\"20130528-220536.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nIn the excellent Chateau Museum we discovered that there used to be another transporter bridge here, as depicted in this model. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jmcw.blog\/swissblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/05\/20130528-220802.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jmcw.blog\/swissblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/05\/20130528-220802.jpg\" alt=\"20130528-220802.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAnd there we also found what may become the symbol of our trip.
